The Feast of San Gennaro

I hadn't been to Little Italy's San Gennaro Feast in years, maybe decades, and stumbled upon it by happenstance this year. I'd forgotten how crazy big it is in comparison with most NYC street fairs, I was pretty floored. And the characters! But my phone was low on juice. I would have taken many more pix than this if I'd been able.

2017 West Indian Day Parade

I chanced to catch the tail end of this years West Indian Day Parade from Grand Army Plaza (this is the second or third year this has happened. Next year, I vow to watch the whole thing!). It's held in Brooklyn every Labor Day. I only got a couple of semi-worthwhile shots; fwiw, I share them here. This is one event where audio is desired; music is so central to the experience. I am particularly interested in the traditional Carnival elements, which is one of the reasons I want to catch the whole thing sometime.
